Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) & its applications

Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directives regulates the use of hazardous and risky substances in electrical and electronic equipments. Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directives came into force by European Union (EU) in year 2003.

Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Compliance

RoHS Compliance in brief means, to follow and work according to the restrictions of RoHS, and limit the use hazardous substances. Products are tested so as to evaluate if they are in accordance to RoHS, and are tested using RoHS analyzers.

Need of RoHS

There are certain dangerous risky substances that can create harmful effects on the environment and the people around. To avoid such danger and to reduce the risk involved, RoHS has been adopted to limit the use of dangerous and risky products in electrical and electronic equipments or components. RoHS help reduce the pollution and ill effects of such products on the health of the people around.

Benefits of RoHS

  • Limited use of dangerous and risky products - With the effect of bringing in RoHS, the use of certain products that lead to ill effects to the environment and the people, has reduced.

  • Reduction of possibility of cancer - With the limit and reduction on the use of certain hazardous products in electrical and electronic equipments, the possibility of cancer has also been reduced.

  • Reduction of causing bad effects on environment - RoHS has reduced the ill-effects caused to the environment with the use of certain dangerous products in excess. This also helps to reduce the environmental pollution caused by such products.

  • Long life and reliable equipments that follow RoHS - Though there are no theories available, but it has been observed that equipments or components, on which RoHS is applied, have a longer life and are more reliable as compared to their counterparts.

Relation between RoHS & Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is related to the design, use and recycling of electrical and electronics equipments or components. WEEE is a directive explaining how to use, operate and recycle electrical and electronic equipments or components. RoHS on the other hand, is related to limited use of hazardous products in electrical and electronics equipments or components. RoHS compliance should also follow WEEE compliance.

Envision LED products are RoHS compliant.

RoHS is applicable to companies that sell electrical and electronic equipments or components. RoHS is also applicable to resellers or distributors of these electrical equipments. We would like to assure our clients that, Envision LED's LED light bulbs are compliant with the RoHs, hence safe to use in their premises. All our products are tested, approved and authenticated accordingly.
